I retyped a whole lot of stuff re the suspicious DEC, Intel, Compaq shell game to contextualise this story & ended up back in my rant about the P.J. Keating of computer company execs (or maybe the Lenin/Lennon) - Steve Jobs. (Hope he's well!)

Then appropriately enough this little plastic box with an overdriven AMD X86 interpreting electric radiator decided I had to shut it down or "suspend" (meaning stop the fan so the CPU might get hotter & hang). Then I lost display to make it more difficult to do anything. This after my main monitor stopped rastering last night. (I haven't tried again yet).

Intel make ARM compatible chips, they bought DEC's half ownership in the strongARM & developed the Xscale from that. Mind you, Apple Computers did some similar, possibly while they owned 25% of Arm - repeatedly claiming they were the first computer maker to use RISC processors exclusively when Acorn had done that years before.

So anyway, all the stuff I typed is in the sargasso sea of supposed sagacity. You have been spared from that reHash re:Coke users by a higher power. (Nuclear fusion from a source 150000000000 metres above sealevel).

Read Garry Barker's column in Thursday 22nd Jan 2009 Green Guide if you want to see carefully selective & inaccurate mythologising of Job's stints at Apple Computers. Fortunately most people are now less dependant on the subjectivities of a few journos published on tree patties & can search the web for propaganda for whatever belief they want. Still galls me though.

Anyway I think the common element in this potpourri is hot air!
